As explained in the ‘Streams’ section, the Pilot devices use an internal numerical reference for streams. Human readable representations can be output. The following table shows the relationship between the stream ID, the stream name and the default ASCII representation. Note that something like “Distance” may have a different meaning on different devices; a proximity sensor may mean something in metres, a cadence sensor, kilometres etc. This flexibility preserves the most data from any individual device or sensor.
