A PC is required to configure the Pilot-CAN if the standard, as-shipped, configuration is no longer suitable. It can also form part of the extended Pilot infrastructure by taking data from the Pilot (e.g. as serial or network data) and passing it to IT systems such as Apache and other PHP web servers, databases (e.g. MySQL) or to software (e.g. Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere) in order to create on-screen graphics, whether in an Outside Broadcast truck or in studio-based systems. For some projects this has been done for live on-air graphics, other times it has been for post-production effects.
